In the 60’s a very populair pageant in the Netherlands: Miss Bril (Miss Glasses).
On this picture we see Miss Bril 1965, Margot Domen. Margot would become Miss Holland in 1966. She represented the Netherlands at the Miss Europe pageant and the Miss Universe pageant. At the Miss Universe pageant she would become a semi-finalist. She was a typist at that time and the daughter of a wel known painter in the Netherlands.
The Miss Bril pageant made the headlines in the Netherlands many times. Like in the beginning of 1965 when Miss Bril 1964, Janny de Knegt, had to be replaced because she became 2nd runner-up at the Miss Holland pageant and would represent the Netherlands at the Miss World pageant in 1965.
