Mirror, mirror on the wall…
After Miss Holland 1956, Rita Schmidt gave up her crown as she got married. Ans van Pothoven, 2nd runner-up at the Miss Holland 1956 pageant, took over the crown.
Rita married in january 1957, so when Ans represented the Netherlands at the Miss World pageant in 1956, she still was “just” 1st runner-up to Rita.
Ans was a busy lady at that time. She also won a beauty pageant in the end of 1956. The first price was a small part in a movie by movie director Christian Jaque.
