When we publish these 10 questions, Rosalie Hooft, Miss Charm Netherlands ia already in Vietnam to represent our country at the internationals finals of Mis Charm International.
Rosalie is no newcomer in the world of dutch pageantry. But we really wanted to get to know her a little bit better, so we asked the beautiful Rosalie 10 questions.
Who is Rosalie Hooft?
Let me describe myself in 5 words; enthusiastic, driven, bubbly, passionate and positive. With everything I do I put in my best and when I have a goal I go a hundred percent, like with pageantry. When I started my pageant journey I did not know what to expect but it rocked my life! Now it is one of the most important things to me. My family and friends are number one, I am a people person and love to be in company. Being with my loved ones gives me energy and willpower.
I study International Public Policy and Leadership at the University of The Hague. Here I am learning how to make policy on social issues and challenges but also how to connect to work together. This is where my heart lies, working together on difficult matters which only can be solved when working together. Pageantry fits perfectly within this passion. Nothing is stronger than standing up together and uniting nations. I want to use and spread my knowledge and start a world where working together is the way to go.
How and when did you enter the world of pageantry?
In March 2022 I received a message on Instagram from one of the scouts of Miss Beauty Gelderland. This was all very new to me and unknown. After doing my research about pageantry, all the aspects intrigued me. At the casting, I was named one of the finalists. This feeling was indescribable and at that moment my journey began. I ended up being 1st runner up of Miss Beauty Gelderland 2023, this started an even bigger fire in me and so my story continues.
How do you prepare for the international pageant as this is quite a new pageant?
Research is the most important. Miss Charm her three main criteria are culture, education, and tourism. For me, it was important to look at what those words meant to me. The combination of education and culture is one of my favorite aspects of life. For me, culture is education, and education is culture. They are intertwined in a way that enriches and transforms our understanding of the world. Through cultural education, we gain insight into the diverse traditions, histories, and beliefs of different countries, nations, and religions. I study International Public Policy and Leadership and my main focus is uniting nations to connect, and work together on social problems. Cultural education fits perfectly within my goal. This was my first step in preparing myself for the pageant. Besides the three main criteria, performance is very important. I trained intensely, also with Putra Passerela in Brussels. Catwalk is one of my favorite parts of pageantry and we lifted my skills. I love preparing for a pageant and can’t wait to show everything in Vietnam.
What can you tell us about your national costume?
My national costume is of course a big secret. But I can give you two words, wind and water. I am very excited to show my costume in the preliminary.
Many beauty queens take part in popular TV shows like Robinson and Dance Dance Dance in the Netherlands. What television show would you like to be invited to and why?
De Veraders is the show I would like to be invited for. This show really tests your knowledge of people but also tests your own way of dealing with people. As I said earlier I am a people person and every time I watched the show I got more curious about how I would play this game. I think that you learn so much and develop your social skills.
Would you encourage young women to participate in beauty pageants, and why?
Absolutely! I would encourage young women to participate in beauty pageants, but with the understanding that pageantry is about much more than physical beauty. It’s a platform for personal growth, self-expression, and making a positive impact on society. I believe young women should consider stepping into the world of pageants because it challenges the participants to step out of their comfort zones. It gives you opportunities to develop valuable skills, which are not only essential in pageantry but also in every aspect of your life. Pageants also provide a platform to use your voice to inspire and bring attention to the topics that are important to you. Last but not least pageantry fosters connections and relationships that are for a lifetime.
Who is your role model in pageantry, and why?
My role model in pageantry is Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018. She embodies everything I admire in a pageant queen, grace, intelligence, compassion, and commitment to making a difference. What truly sets her apart is how she uses her platform to advocate for causes she believes in, particularly education and poverty alleviation in underserved communities. Catriona’s journey in pageantry reflects a balance of strength and vulnerability, showing that true beauty lies in authenticity. Her “Lava Walk” was mesmerizing. She didn’t just walk the stage, she used it to shine a light on important global issues. Her story inspires me to not only embrace the glitz and glamor of pageantry but also to focus on being a force for good. She showed that a crown is not just an accessory it’s a tool to use voices and bring positive change.
Vietnam is known for its coffee, how do you like your coffee?
I love coffee and have two different ways of how I like my coffee throughout the day, this is my daily routine. When I wake up I always make myself a strong coffee with some foamy milk. During the day I only drink black coffee which gets stronger with the hour.
What is charm for you?
Charm is a quality that, for me, is a combination of warmth, authenticity, and the ability to connect with others on a meaningful level. At its heart, charm is about lifting people up and inspiring positivity wherever you go. It’s not just about being likable, it’s about making others feel valued, seen, and empowered. Charm comes in many forms and can be found in everything around us. It can be in a warm smile that brightens someone’s day, a kind gesture that shows care, or even the way we choose to approach life with optimism and grace. True charm lies in the ability to liberate those around you from negativity, self-doubt, or fear through your kindness and caregiving. It’s about creating a ripple effect of joy and confidence, showing others the best in themselves simply by believing in them.
What is your message for your fans in the Netherlands and abroad?
