10 questions for: Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2021, Suzette van der Pol

This week the Miss Intercontinental 2021 pageant will start.  The finals will be on 29TH October at the Sunrise Diamond Beach Resort in Sharm el Sheik, Egypt. The last time the pageant was held, was in 2019 and like this year, Sharm el Sheik was the host city back then. Like many pageants the 2020 edition had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Suzette van der Pol was crowned earlier this year during an exciting final in Studio21. Suzette,Miss Intercontinental Friesland, was one of the girls that was mentioned by many as a crown contender, but had to beat the Intercontinental beauties from Groningen, Noord-Holland, Limburg and Zuid Holland.
Suzette is the first to represent the Netherlands at the international finals of team Beauty ’21.
We think Suzette is a real crown contender for the international title as she is not your random queen. She really stand out with her international looks, dreamy eyes and a killer body. She reminds us a bid of the international pop diva Cher, who has that same charismatic vibe.

We were very luck that Suzette had time to answer our 10 questions….

Who is Suzette van der Pol?

My name is Suzette van der Pol, I am studying for my bachelor’s degree in Communication. In three words I would describe myself as ambitious, determined, and selfless. When I have free time I always go horse riding or cycling.

Why and when did you enter the world of beauty pageants?

One day I saw a promotion post on Instagram, I clicked on it and decided to sign up. The organization invited me to the casting day and that’s where it all started! I became Miss Intercontinental of Friesland and now I am crowned Miss Intercontinental of The Netherlands.

How do you prepare for the international pageant? What area do you need to work on the most and how are you doing in this area?

Many people are helping me to prepare for Miss Intercontinental. I have catwalk training, Q&A training, I go to the gym every day and I eat healthily. The part I’m working on the most is my facial expression.

Miss Intercontinental 2022 is in Egypt. What do you expect from the pageant and why do you expect from Egypt?

I can not wait to fly to Egypt and represent The Netherlands! I’m sure I will have the best time there with all my beautiful pageant sisters. I am a huge fan of culture so I also can’t wait to visit pyramids, other historical monuments and to learn more about this beautiful country.

This pageant is all about female beauty and success. What makes you the ultimate female beauty? What makes you successful?

Success to me means having a positive impact and bringing change by using our voice. That’s why I, as Miss Intercontinental of The Netherlands have been promoting the #useyourvoice. I believe that our voice matters. I sincerely hope that I can encourage the youth and women to have the courage to be on the frontlines and stand up for themselves and others. It’s about standing up for what you believe in and for the things you would like to see changed. We can’t afford to live in silence anymore. It’s the easy way to think that we as the younger generation or as women can’t make the change we would like to see, only because we believe we have nothing to say. I believe Miss Intercontinental is a powerful woman who not only stands up for herself but also for others. A woman with a clear message and who is determined, ambitious, and confident. I believe I have these qualities and that makes me the ultimate female beauty.

Brigitte Bergman has been Miss Intercontinental 1983. What will you do to bring the crown to the Netherlands after 34 years?

I am stoked whenever there’s a female, assuming a position in politics. I believe that women are the most powerful investment we can make in building a better future. I hope that with my mission, messages, and actions I can bring the crown to the Netherlands.

What will you tell your roommate about the Netherlands and what typical dutch present would you give to her and why?

I would tell my roommate that my country is quite small but that we have a lot of famous icons. Tulips, cheese, windmills… The list is endless. I would tell her that Dutch people are always in the mood for a chat, we are enterprising and very sociable. I would give my roommate Dutch stroopwafels….they don’t need too much of an introduction, do they?

A beauty queen always has a place in the spotlight, but she also has a private life. What do you want to tell us about Suzette without crown and sash?

I love being outside, In my free time, I’m always working with horses. I’m the happiest when I’m horse riding in the forest or cycling on my bike. Especially where I live there is a lot of nature and I enjoy being there.

Do you think growing up in the Netherlands is a privilege. Why or why not?

In my opinion, The Netherlands is a divided country. I’m grateful for the chances I am given. I do believe that growing up in The Netherlands for me is a privilege. I have rights, I am free and able to use my voice.

What about Suzette in 10 years?

In 10 years I hope I’ve helped a lot of women to stand up and have the courage to be at the front lines. And I hope that I am on the right way to become the first female prime minister of The Netherlands.

Thank you so much Suzette that you were able to answer our 10 questions during your busy time of preparations for the international finals.
