Let’s meet Marit Beets, 12 Months of Beauty Finalist 2022

Marit is no stranger in the pageant world. She already has international experience and she knows very well what it takes to be a beauty queen

Who is Marit Beets?

Hello everyone, Witam wszystkich, Halo semua! My name is Marit Beets a 22-year-old woman from Volendam, a small fishingtown nearby Amsterdam. This year I started my new study Human Resource Management which I’m proud of. It was a dream for me to go to college when I was younger and now, I can proudly say that I achieved this goal. Dreams come true when you work hard for it! I would describe myself as a loyal, loving, intelligent, ambitious, and hard-working woman. If I have a goal, I want to reach it… no matter what. My hobbies are fitness, travelling and presenting… one day I hope to be a presenter of my own tv-show.

When I was 16 years old, I entered the world of Beauty Pageants. I started at Miss Teen of The Netherlands in 2016, then I went to my first international Pageant in 2017: Miss Teen International H2O Ambassador where I became 2nd Runner up. A couple years later I represented The Netherlands in 2019 at another international Pageant: Miss Cosmopolitan World where I also became 2nd runner up. Pageants are special to me, it made me who I am now. From an insecure girl to a strong independent woman who believes in herself and knows her worth.

Why did you enter the Pageant of 12 Months of Beauty?

Pageants are more than just Pageants. A pageant gives you the chance to speak up, spread your message and make a change. That’s why I entered the Pageant of 12 Months of Beauty. Both pageants; Miss Grand International as Miss Supranational are standing for something I can connect with. When the Corona pandemic started my skin was breaking out. Everytime when I looked into the mirror I started crying. If felt insecure, ugly, and not worth it because I had gotten acne. After a couple months I got up, walked to the mirror, and told myself that I was worth it, that I am a girl who is beautiful with or without acne. And that was why I wanted to stand up because I know there are so much other girls and boys with the same insecurities. I wanted to stand up against the beauty standards around the world. Girls don’t need to be “perfect”. A girl with acne, scars, or something else is as beautiful as a girl who doesn’t have it. Besides the fact that pageants are my passion, and something I love to do, I want to create awareness for imperfection. I think that with my message I can wake up the Pageant world because beauty is not something only from the outside… true beauty comes from the Inside. I’m ready to speak up, spread my message and bring home the crown.

What difference would you like to make for the pageant world in The Netherlands and why?

As I said earlier in this interview, I would like to create awareness for imperfection. Imperfection is perfection. Imperfections making a person unique, and everyone is beautiful. That sounds like a cliché, but it is the truth! I am not less beautiful because I have acné! No, it’s part of me and I love the way I look. Girls nowadays need a role model, and they need a little push to dare to participate Beauty Pageants because some girls are afraid that they are not enough, that they are not pretty enough, but they are! I want to show that even when you have acne you can do whatever you want if you want to model, or you want to participate in Pageants… just do it and I’ll be here to tell you that.

What message do you have for your pageant fans?

Oh wauw, there is so much I would like to say… I have never felt so loved by fans. The feeling they give me by their love and support… I can’t even describe it. I’m so thankful for all the fans who are supporting me and hyping me up for the pageants, I really love you even though I don’t know you personally. Thanks for all your love and support. You are loved and worth it. If you want something but you are afraid, scared or to insecure to do it? Please let me remind you of the fact that Imperfection ís perfection, you can do it and don’t give up. I hope to meet you at one of the Pageants and don’t forget to cheer #TEAMNETHERLANDS!
