Miss Grand Groningen 2023, Melissa Bottema is Miss Grand Netherlands 2023. Melissa will represent the Netherlands at the Miss Grand International finals in oktober in Vietnam.
The finals of Miss Grand Netherlands took place in Claus Event Center in Hoofddorp. In 2013, Talisa Wolters, was crowned the first ever Miss Grand Netherlands at this same venue.
The 11 provincial queens competed in several rounds like swimwear, evening wear and a pitch round. The first round of competition however was the BaroQco round. BaroQco is the official jewel sponsor of Miss Grand Netherlands, who are also responsible for the Miss Grand crown. A very special moment after this round was the crowning of the first ever Miss BaroQco. Eduardo and his son Yoel announced the winner: Miss Grand Groningen, Melissa Bottema. She was crowned and sashed and was awarded with a very beautiful set of jewelry consisting of a necklace and a pair of earrings, a photoshoot with publication in a magazine and she will appear at least at one event to promote BaroQco.
Other awards were awarded to Miss Grand Flevoland, Amber Tamara who won Miss Social Media and Miss Fit and Shaped. The Miss Fit and Shaped was handed out by the official coach of Miss Grand Netherlands, Brian Blijd from Body2last. Brian told the audience that Amber lost 11 kilos to compete in the Miss Grand Netherlands pageant. Merel Bakker, Miss Grand Gelderland was awarded with the Miss Photogenic award by Johnny ten Have, the official photographer of Miss Grand Netherlands and won a photoshoot.
The show was hosted by the lovely and beautiful Miss Grand Netherlands 2022, Marit Beets, who had to give up her crown, but was crowned with a tiara by 12 Months of Beauty for her incredible reign and her hard work to realize this great final show.
After this exciting final a top 5 was announced: Miss Grand Zuid Holland, Merel van Roon, Miss Grand Groningen, Melissa Bottema, Miss Grand Flevoland, Amber Tamara, Miss Grand Gelderland, Merel Bakker and Miss Grand Drenthe, Bo Grooten.
The judges had a hard time to select a top 5 and it was even harder to decide how would be Miss Grand Netherlands 2023.
But in the end Melissa Bottema, Miss Grand Groningen, was crowned Miss Grand Netherlands 2023 and Amber Tamara, Miss Grand Flevoland, was her runner-up.

Melissa is no newcomer in the world of dutch and international pageantry. She was crowned Miss Intercontinental Groningen 2020/2021, during the corona pandemic. She placed first runner-up at the national finals but took over the crown in 2022 and represented the Netherlands at the Miss Intercontinental 2022, where she was among the favorites but placed only top 20.
Internationally Melissa already is named as a European favorite. We hope she will do very well at the international pageant this October and maybe take the crown to Europe.
