Miss Nederland 2019 is 24 year old Sharon Pieksma from Rotterdam. Sharon is not a stranger in the world of beauty in The Netherlands. In 2013 she tried to become “Holland’s next Topmodel”, but the judges thought that she was too big to become a fashion-model.
Sharon also made the news in 2017 when she told in a TV interview that she had been sexually assaulted several times when she was just a 15 year old model.
The finals of Miss Nederland took place in the studio of “Koonings”. This wedding paradise has over 4500 wedding dresses and became a household name in The Netherlands when the populair TV show of TLC: “Say Yes to the Dress Benelux” was recorded here.
Also the finals of Miss Nederland were recorded at this wedding location for the television show ” Op jacht naar de Kroon”. This show was broadcasted on RTL4 and lasted one 4 episodes on Sundays.
After the casting there were 10 finalists but only 9 made it to the finals. One of the contestants, Jeanin, had to leave due to familiar reasons.
Robin and Stefan of Miss Holland Now were very honored to be invited for the finals and witnessed a very nice show with a lot of great entertainment.
The girls looked spectaculair in the dresses from ” Koonings”.
This year Miss Nederland Organization showed again that they are a contemporary pageant. During the course of the pageant we saw the importance of social media in pageantry, like we see in pageants like Miss Universe, Miss Supranational, Miss Earth and Miss Grand International, as we live a fast life, when news reaches the media, there is already new news.
Being an important pageant as Miss Nederland you need to be innovative and fast and that what this year’s pageant is all about.
When the jury left the room to decide who would be crowned, we talked about who we thought could have a big chance to win the crown.
Both of us were very impressed by Fabiënne Davelaar. The tall beauty showed a lot of international potential and remembered us a little of Miss Grand Netherlands 2013, Francis Everduim.
Also Leontien Berns impressed us by the way she had grown into the pageant. At first, after the casting, we did not notice her but during the whole pageant she improved by the minute. At the finals we saw a very confident woman. There was also no surprise that she won the Miss Social Media as she gave us a great look into the world of Miss Nederland at her instagram.
At the pre-activities and the photoshoots we noticed Nastasija, who was absolutely one of the most beautiful girls of the group.
Sharon Pieksma was one of the most constant contenders during the pre-activities and the finals.
When the judges returned we learned that they were the most impressed by Fabiënne and Sharon.
CEO of Miss Nederland and host of the finals, Kim Kötter, was the last to speak when she announced that Sharon Pieksma was Miss Nederland 2019.
Internationally many see the resemblances with the only dutch Miss Universe, Angela Visser.
So could it happen again after 30 years?
